To be \u201cinvolved in an accident\u201d does not necessarily require that your vehicle collided with another vehicle or a person.<\/p><p>The term \u201cpermanent, serious injury,\u201d means the loss or permanent impairment of a function of any bodily member or organ.<\/p><h3>Penalties for Hit and Run Causing Injury under CVC 20001(b)(1)<\/h3><p>A hit and run that results in injury to another person is a \u201cwobbler\u201d in California. This means that the prosecutor can decide whether to charge the crime as a felony or a misdemeanor depending on the nature of the injuries and whether you have any prior criminal record.
